04 : ABOUT THE ARTISTS
SATORU SATO
At every stage, the geometric spirit of Satoru Sato has cut out the superfluous, He will undoubtedly go beyond the zero point where he has arrived with black and white monochrome by finding a new self-identity in this naked condition with a single simple line or a delicate nuance which is as present as it is effaced. Everything is thus limited to a relation that is itself reduced to the affirmation of a delintateness of spirit. Can the content of an entire sentence be expressed in a single word? Can this be resolved into a single punctuation mark, a punctuation mark made so that it becomes possible to read something in it beyond the sentence P This is the risky venture which Satorui Sato has taken upon himself He says more than a great deal through means close to nothing.

STIJN GUILIELMUS RUYS
Stijn's work results from a profound analysis and questioning of the definition and function of ‘furniture’. What is the meaning of concepts like ‘cupboard‘, ‘chair’, or ‘table’? Too often we still associate a ‘chair’ with four legs, a seat, and a back. Stijn wants to break with the obvious and create a formal language in which the focus is on visual tension. Through subtle interventions he sets out to disrupt the expectations of the user/spectator. Although his furniture is always functional, its perception is as important as its functionality. This tension between the practical and aesthetic value of an object is a constant in his work.
