04 : YUN SUNGFEEL BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1977 in Daejeon, South Korea. He lives and works between London and Seoul.
Yun Sungfeel’s work approaches the themes of balance and harmony in the universe, examining both the macro and the micro. It reveals the constant flow of systems, including that of human existence.
The physical theories of the universe do not differ essentially from former philosophies and oriental religions that describe the universe as a system of traffic of energy; an energy created by an electromagnetic force (Yin & Yang) which recounts the universe’s repeated cycle of creation and extinction.
The relationship between art, spirituality and scientific theories, such is the creative idea Yun Sungfeel pursues throughout his work.
« My work is essentially about the concepts of nature and existence, as apprehended in ancient eastern philosophies and in various theories of modern science, especially physics and quantum mechanics. Moreover it is influenced by minimal art’s expression methods, such as the use of geometry, of patterns and of simple shapes.» Yun Sungfeel
Yun Sungfeel graduated with a B.A. from Goldsmiths College, University of London and an MFA in Sculpture from the Slade school of fine art. His work has been exhibited in museums. In 2012 he was named outstanding artist at the Pyo gallery and the Zaha museum in Seoul.
